Pub To Be Renamed After Mariano Rivera

Even though he was charged with the blown save against the Boston Red Sox Thursday night, Mariano Rivera is still looking at one heck of an honor during the New York Yankees final home stand of the season.

From September 20-26, Foley's NY Pub and Restaurant will be renamed "Mariano's" in honor of the soon-to-be-retired closer.

Yup, the Bill Veeck of booze vendors, Shaun Clancy, is at it again.

"As a Yankee fan and someone who loves baseball, I wanted to do something to thank Mariano Rivera for the joy he has brought to this city and to the game overall," pub owner Clancy said.  "I felt compelled to do something to try to give back to him for all he has meant to baseball."

And if this all sounds a little too familar…it's because it is.

Last season at this time, Foley's changed its name to "Chipper's" to celebrate the career of then-retiring Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones.
