It’s Déjà Vu for Moises Alou

It's been close to ten years since Steve Bartman reached out and fouled up (get it) Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou's chances at making potentially a game saving grab.

And Monday night, it was déjà vu all over again.

Now serving as the general manager for the Domican Republic's team during the World Baseball Classic, Alou was on hand to watch current outfielder Moises Sierra almost get, well, Bartman'd during the first inning against the Netherlands and of the bat of five-time Major League All-Star Andruw Jones.  The similarities weren't lost on the 17-year pro.

"Even the guy had glasses like Bartman," Alou told reporters, "but the guy missed the ball and Sierra caught it.  Maybe that's a good sign.  He caught the ball. Maybe we're going to win the championship."

It's hard to know what would have happened if Alou would've made that grab during the 2003 NLCS, but we do know this…it led to the Cubs losing Game Six to the eventual World Champion Florida Marlins.  The Dominican Republic, on the other hand, held off the Netherlands 4-1 to advace to their first ever WBC finals.
