Anna Benson Loves Her Husband...Naturally

As if the sad saga of "Baseball Wives" star Anna Benson couldn't get any weirder…there's this.

According to the 9-1-1 recording of her Sunday evening confrontation with her soon-to-be-ex-husband, onetime big leaguer Kris Benson, the reason she was caught…she needed a smoke.

“(Anna) told me to go get a lighter for her to smoke a cigarette,” Kris Benson told a 9-1-1 dispatcher. “When I left the room, I just did a beeline for the basement.”

The former hurler escaped his gun-wielding, bullet-proof vest wearing wife and hid out in the woods behind his Georgia home until the authorities arrived.

Anna Benson is being held without bail and was charged with criminal trespassing, two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit a felony.  In addition to the gun and the bullet-proof vest, cops also recovered the following off the ex-stripper…an expandable metal baton, a red folding Batman knife, a hatchet, a Taser, 13 bullets, a bag of syringes and eight pills.

Naturally, Anna Benson hopes to parlay this whole ordeal into a business venture.

“I’m a good girl, a nice girl,’’ Anna Benson, who now says she wants to start a bulletproof-vest company, told the New York Post Tuesday. “I would never hurt (Kris). I am still in love with him.”

And just in case anyone ever questions what "love" is…it begins with criminal trespassing and aggravated assault.
