New England Patriots veteran linebacker Jerod Mayo is calling it quits and hanging up his cleats for good, it seems.
After eight years with the team, the 29-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday night and posted the following message.
This isn’t a huge surprise, as the team declined to pick up his $11.4 million option for 2016. Mayo has now finished each of the last three seasons on injured reserve, and has battled multiple injuries.
The All-Pro linebacker was as consistent as they come and rarely missed a tackle. He racked up 803 of those during the course of his career, recorded 11 sacks and picked off three passes as well.
