Texas WR Emmet Perry Commits to Badgers 2017 Class

With spots filling up quickly in the small 2017 Wisconsin Badgers recruiting class, decisions need to be made quickly if a player wants to become a part of what is going on in Madison.

One player who saw the chance and jumped on it after his official visit is DeSoto, Texas wide receiver Emmitt Perry. Badger247, our recruiting partners, report that Perry committed shortly after the Badgers made him an offer this weekend while he was on his official visit for the Nebraska game.

Perry has the hallmarks of a Wisconsin steal, as this was his only Power 5 offer, but a player who was on the rise. He picked up all seven of his offers since August for one.

At 6-2 and 170 pounds there is a lot of physical potential. With DeSoto churning out D1 talent on a yearly basis, Perry is steppting up for his team as he gets the big stage. He has 25 catches for 481 yards and eight touchdowns on the season.

He also was a teammate of inside linebacker Chris Orr, although the two are a few years apart.

So, what besides the big offer on his list impressed him about the Badgers?

Perry noted the atmosphere surrounding the game, but also the attitude of the program as a whole.

“I felt when I was up there I was really impressed,” Perry told 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow. “They are positive people there and I was really impressed.”

Wisconsin picked up its second commitment from a player who visited this weekend, including former Missouri long snapper commit Adam Bay.

It is the 13th commitment of the 2017 class, one that is expected to hit the 15 or 16 range by national signing day.

Wisconsin has the No. 44 class in the country and the No. 10 class in the Big Ten. However, as we have pointed out, don’t read too much in to those numbers with the Badgers lagging behind in the rankings mainly because of their small class size.
