Miami reliever Dan Jennings was involved in a scary moment during Thursday’s Pirates-Marlins matchup.
In the seventh inning of the game, Jennings was hit in the left side of his head by a Jordy Mercer line drive.
He immediately fell down to the ground, and then slowly got up and staggered around on the mound, looking completely dazed. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia ran to his aid, as the Marlins reliever attempted to regain his balance.
Jennings then dropped to his knee after manager Mike Redmond and a trainer ran out to the mound. They were quickly joined by Jennings’ teammates.

As he was carted off the field, he raised his hand to indicate that he was okay, as fans cheered to provide some support.
Teammate Giancarlo Stanton wished him a speedy recovery.

A harrowing moment, and we hope Jennings is okay. He was taken to a local hospital, and we’ve just received an update on his condition.
The scans were negative-it seems I’m going to be ok. The support shown tonight has been unbelievable, speechless. God is amazing
