Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant were two of the greatest players during their respective eras, and they each have a great deal of respect for one another.
The two squared off multiple times on the court, with Jordan moving out of his prime and Kobe just beginning to get his stripes. But no matter where they were at career-wise, they both excelled in knocking down jumpers and trash talking their opponents. And Bryant modeled his game after Jordan’s, so playing against the GOAT must have been a bit nostalgic for him.
Kobe and the Lakers played in Charlotte on Monday night, and while Jordan wasn’t at the game, he did pay tribute to the Lakers great with a recorded message. Jordan congratulated Kobe on an “unbelievable career,” and said he was a “big help to the game of basketball.”
It’s too bad Jordan wasn’t at Time Warner Cable Arena for the game. Seeing the two together once again before the game would’ve been cool.
