Michael Oher slid backwards during play in Super Bowl 50

Panthers left tackle Michael Oher has gone from the inspiration of a movie to a potential punchline on social media.

Several players had to change their shoes during Super Bowl 50 because of the footing on the field at Levi’s Stadium. But on this play the subject of “The Blind Side” literally slid backwards trying to block a Broncos pass rusher.

A ton of scouting reports on NFL prospects will come out in the next few weeks. Some of them might refer to offensive linemen who are “on skates” because they have difficulty blocking. It sure looked like Oher was on skates during this play, although he can’t be blamed for the field conditions.

Problems with the grass at Levi’s Stadium is nothing new. Ravens kicker Justin Tucker slipped attempting a field goal during a regular-season game.

This is an issue that should have been addressed before the Super Bowl.
