Cup of Joe: Big East expansion drama continues

Missouri is ready to go to the SEC, and the Big East has voted to raise exit fees as if it matters. The Big East’s floundering commissioner, John Marinatto, has a conference call with the media scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m. to discuss “current information on conference realignment,” as stated in the Big East release sent via email yesterday.

Personally I think that is great news for Temple fans, some who have this crazy mindset that Temple has a right to be invited to the Big East. And Houston as been extended an invitation to the conference, according to the Houston Chronicle.

It’s really amusing at times, but we’ll see where this all is heading. For now, here are a few Penn State links to check out, in case you missed them.

With the release of the BCS rankings Sunday evening I took to task to come up with figuring out what Penn State fans should be rooting for this weekend for Penn State to make a run for a spot in the BCS games, barring a Big Ten championship victory. Here’s a hint, you are now Michigan State fans.

Penn State a 4-point favorite at Northwestern. Really? – David Jones, The Patriot-News

The two main forces at The Patriot-News, Flounders and Jones, take a look at Penn State’s stud running back seeing more carries and becoming more of a focus on the offense as well as the point-spread for this weekend’s game.

Penn State’s Moye ruled out for Northwestern – Jake Kaplan, Philly.com

As noted last night on Twitter, wide receiver Derek Moye is listed on the injury report this week with “out” as his status. This was expected all along so nothing really ground-breaking here.

Wonder how the first couple games of the season would have gone if Fera was available like he is now.

Penn State Fan Tab Confidence Rating: 64 – Nitany Lion’s Den

Yesterday we formally introduced the Penn State Fan Confidence Score, which takes a pulse of the Penn State fans about the team. When it was posted the score was at 64 but an early check this morning has the score down two points to 62. Considering the team is 6-1 I’ll admit that I’m a bit surprised at the low score, but I get it The offense has been struggling and there are some tough games ahead. Feel free to add your score to the mix as well.
