I’m usually a big fan of Brooks Orpik as he is the exact type of defenseman the Rangers have been missing since Jeff Beukeboom, but after his knee-on-knee hit on Derek Stepan last night, I’ve lost a lot of respect for the guy…
Hey Torts, how’d you feel about the hit? (watch here)…
“It’s a cheap dirty hit. I wonder what would have happened if we would have done that to their two whiney stars over there. I wonder what would have happened. So I’m anxious to see what happens with the league with this. Just no respect amongst players. None. It’s sickning.
It’s one of the most arrogant organizations (Penguins) in the league. They whine about this stuff all the time and look what happens. It’s ridiculous. But they’ll whine about something else over there, won’t they? Starting with their two effin stars.”
How about you Mr. Biron (watch here)…
“I saw it the whole way and to be honest with you it crossed my mind to go all the way down there because it was pretty gutless and dirty. That guy is known for sticking his knee and elbow out. I don’t care what he says in defense of what he did it was dirty.”
Orpik, who was given a 5-minute major and a game misconduct on the play, was not made available to the media after the game.
There has been no update on Stepan.
…first off, I effin love Torts!!!! He’s 100% correct. If a Ranger did that to Crosby or Malkin they’d be suspended for the entire playoffs. I bet every player, coach and GM in the league gained a tremendous amount of respect for Torts for saying what everyone in the NHL was thinking.
…to the hit. It was dirty and Orpik should be suspended. The Pens are up 4-1 in virtually a meaningless game and he does that garbage.
…it’s typical. Pittsburgh typical.
