A solid win against the Brooklyn Nets, the now 13-2 Celtics continue their hot winning streak home on Thursday night, when the Golden State Warriors come to town to try and dethrone the red hot C’s on national TV.
Other than looking ahead of the schedule, tonight’s game was a closer than expected finished that showed both teams strengths and weaknesses. For Boston, all 5 starters score more than 14 points each and contributed on both ends of the floor. Injured point guard Kyrie Irving came into the starting lineup with his signature mask, which generated a lot of buzz on social media, and delivered tonight. Scoring 25 points in 29 minutes, you can say for Irving it was productive from a points to minutes ratio. Following Irving was forward Marcus Morris, who dropped 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. For the 28 year old forward, this is his first double double in a Celtics uniform, now awaiting what Thursday’s game has in store. Jayson Tatum followed through with 19 of his own then Al Horford contributed the other Celtics double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jaylen Brown had 14 points, but came up with a team high of 3 steals. Off the bench, Terry Rozier scored 6 and ripped down 5 boards while Daniel Theis grabbed 7 rebounds in a 11 minute stint.
Former Virginia star player Joe Harris dropped 19 on the C’s, leading the way for the now revamped Nets squad. Going 5/11 on three pointers, Harris was a turning point at times during multiple Celtics runs to try and stop the runs from extending out of reach. Small forward Rondae Hollis Jefferson scored 16 and grabbed 9 boards to fall just short of a victory to knock off the win streak to 12 games.
