Bush ends his holdout

Raiders halfback Michael Bush has ended his week long holdout and signed with the Raiders for at least 2011. CSN’s Paul Gutierrez reports that it is unclear at the present time whether he actually signed the one-year $2.6 million RFA tender or if he and the Raiders agreed to an extension. I’m betting it was the first round tender. He will report to camp today for practice.

Bush was a necessity after the Raiders lost Taiwan Jones early in camp and Darren McFadden to a fractured eye socket. With Michael Bennett also not practicing, the Raiders were down to just Rock Cartwright and Louis Rankin. It’s extraordinarily hard to work with that and it’s a setback that more guys can’t be in there getting the reps needed to hone their abilities.

Bush has 1,665 career rushing yards with the Raiders with an average of 4.4 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns. He has also added 54 receptions for 461 yards. Bush has been able to be a staple of the Raiders offense whenever Darren McFadden either hasn’t produced or has been injured.

Bush and McFadden will once again combine in the Raiders backfield to produce one of the NFL’s deadliest ground games. Many, including myself, believe that Bush will get more time on the field this year in an effort to keep him happy and make him want to be a Raider again in 2012, when he will become an unrestricted free agent.
