Luke Richardson to Be Named As B-Sens New Head Coach

Per Joy Lindsay:

After publically expressing his interest in the recently vacated Binghamton head coaching position earlier this month, Luke Richardson will be named as the new head coach of the Binghamton Senators.

At the time, he told the media:

“I told Bryan I’d like to pursue head coaching,” said Richardson. “I’ve learned a lot from Craig (Hartsburg), to Cory (Clouston) to Paul (MacLean) in a lot different ways.

“Even from all the years I played with all the different guys, there were things I liked about some guys or you were thinking I would do something different. You’re always thinking if you did have a chance, all the things you have learned and rolled it into one, that would be your philosophy. I would like to take a shot at being a head coach and that’s something I would like to pursue.”

Since retiring as a player after playing two games in the 2008/09 season, Richardson capped a 21-season NHL career and joined the Senators’ coaching staff as an assistant later that same season. He’s been an assistant with the coaching staff ever since.

According to Bruce Garrioch, Richardson’s decision to coach the Binghamton Senators is made easier by the fact that his daughter Morgan has accepted a scholarship and will be attending Colgate University, which is a 45-minute drive from Binghamton. (note: everyone else believes his daughter is attending Cornell.)

So there you have it, Luke Richardson everybody.
