Chuck Norris Wears Rickie Weeks Pajamas
June 26, 2010- Milwaukee, WI. Miller Park..Milwaukee Brewers Rickie Weeks cross home safely on a double by Corey Hart..Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Seattle Mariners 4-5..Mike McGinnis / CSM.

Rickie Weeks is more of a man than I could ever hope to be.

He can divide by zero.  He can touch MC Hammer.  He’s the best thing since sliced bread, not Matt Wieters.

Seriously, I don’t remember a Brewer this tough since Mike Matheny.

He’s been hit in the head in each of the past two seasons, and in both instances didn’t show any ill effects.  Last year, he was hit in the face (THE FREAKING FACE!!) on a bunt attempt and stayed in the game.  This only way that would have been more awesome is if he spit out a mess of blood and teeth like Matheny on his way down to first.

On Saturday night, he was drilled in the temple area and once again he was almost immediately on his feet and stayed in the game.  This time, he played a pivotal role in a Brewers comeback, getting on base in the bottom of the 9th and ultimately scoring the game-winning run.

There’s been a lot of frustration over Weeks missing so much time due to injury over the past few seasons, but let’s be clear here — there’s no way we can possibly call him soft.  Despite leading the league in HBPs, he hasn’t changed his approach at the plate a bit, and doesn’t shy away from the ball.  He’s not afraid of contact on the bases, either — just ask Ryan Doumit, who weeks effectively put on the DL with concussion-like symptoms after a collision at home a few days ago.

He’s listed as 5’10 and 215 pounds on his baseball-reference page, but he plays like he’s a lot bigger than that (and to be fair, that weight is probably a bit out of date — he’s packed on more muscle seemingly every winter).  I don’t think you could find a more intimidating presence on the Brewers’ roster.  How else could you describe a guy who gets hit in the head twice, and dusts himself off like it’s nothing?

I don’t know if I could name a player on this roster I like more than Weeks right now.
