Saints Nation: NFC Blows Out AFC 62-35 as Brees Plays Well

With the number of injuries that preceded the Pro Bowl I was surprised to see Drew Brees, Jahri Evans and Jermon Bushrod all starting for the NFC on the opening series, considering two of those three weren't even on the team when it was originally announced. All three of them played fine and Brees ended with a stat line of 8 for 11 for 131 yards and a nice touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson of the Bucs. Both teams did try a little bit more than usual, with the defensive lines actually rushing the passer, so that made for a slightly more entertaining game.

Thomas Morstead…

had two punts for a measly average of just 33.5 yards per. He was also the holder on all kicks, and on one field goal attempt the AFC jumped blatantly offsides which forced Morstead to pick up the ball and attempt to throw it. The result was an interception for a touchdown, which was of course called back due to the penalty. Still, a pretty funny and embarrassing sequence for him. He did show off his speed catching Eric Berry and power tackling him as he crossed the end zone, though. It wasn't all perfect for Brees, either, who was almost intercepted on a tipped pass and statistically blamed for a fumble on the opening play of the game. I'm not sure why that fumble gets accredited to Brees, though, because it was placed right in Adrian Peterson's gut before it hit the turf.

The final score was 62-35 in favor of the NFC, and Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph was voted as the game's MVP. He led the NFC in yards gained with 122 and also had a touchdown. Most importantly it looked like our four guys got out of the game with no injuries.
