Conor McGregor claims he’ll invent MMA-boxing hybrid sport

It’s a good thing that the Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor fight is set to take place in just a few days, as The Notorious One is running out of ridiculous things to say.

He really pushed the limit at the final press conference for the bout on Wednesday, when he suggested that he’s going to be some sort of a trailblazer, or something.

Even though boxing first dates back to ancient times — when there were fights in Greece — and has been going on in the modern era for over 110 years, McGregor claims he’s going to modify the sport a bit and create some sort of MMA-boxing hybrid.

The question really didn’t even pertain to that topic, but McGregor went there anyway. My favorite part of it all, though, is Dana White’s reaction. It appeared that the UFC president still manages to be surprised by some of the asinine statements that come out of McGregor’s mouth.

Does McGregor not understand that MMA already is a combination of boxing and martial arts? That’s where this discussion should have started and ended, but we’ll see if The Notorious One revisits this topic again in the future.
