Giants teammates knew of Josh Brown’s abuse, per report

The New York Giants and NFL remain under a microscope as more details emerge concerning Josh Brown’s abuse of his ex-wife.

Brown currently sits on an exempt list because of the continued emergence of police reports and details. From the sounds of it, the Giants and league itself should have taken action long ago.

As captured by Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the police report alleges Brown’s teammates knew of the abuse and did nothing:

Several of Josh’s teammates were aware of the abuse in their relationship, but it is clear none of them did anything to call it to the attention of the team management or take action to help Molly out. Molly feared that people from the NFL/Giants would pressure her into making all of this go away, so that Josh and the team would not face any negative press. Molly was very upfront that in her experience, the NFL publically [sic] says that they have a no tolerance policy on Domestic Violence, but the reality is that they do more crisis management and look to cover things up.

The NFL has failed once again with domestic violence. The Giants, players and management, are especially at fault for not adhering to the so-called “zero-tolerance police” when it comes to this, which brings plenty of flashbacks to the Ray Rice situation.

The actions here confirm Molly Brown’s fears. There isn’t major coverage of this just yet, because unlike the Rice situation, there isn’t a video. The league didn’t go out of its way to find out more information surrounding the allegations, even though documents have been available to the public for months. And to this day, the Giants still stand behind Brown, who hasn’t even technically lost his job.

And if the police report is right, Giants players knew about it, too. Now all have to deal with the fallout. The globe awaits the NFL’s correction of its mistakes, and what one can only hope is lessons learned and applied in future scenarios.
