Jay Cutler injury could end his season and Bears tenure

Jay Cutler could be done with the Chicago Bears after suffering a shoulder injury in Week 11.

Cutler had a rough outing in a loss to the New York Giants, throwing for 252 yards with one touchdown and an interception behind an offensive line missing three starters.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune followed Monday with a report about the shoulder issue:

Multiple sources told the Tribune that Cutler suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 22-16 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Cutler was able to finish the game and was intercepted by safety Landon Collins on the final offensive play but the Bears were working to learn more about his injury on a hectic Monday at Halas Hall.

If Cutler’s season is over, the two-win Bears will find themselves directed by Matt Barkley.

More importantly, this could be the end for Cutler in Chicago. He’s been maligned his entire time there and the organization might be ready to move on as it fires up an official rebuild. Cutler has been erratic at best on a weekly basis when healthy and even entered Week 11 facing questions from within his own locker room.

Cutler has a future in the NFL given his stop-gap capabilities, but it’s a shame to see his Bears tenure perhaps end in such a disappointing way.
