The Soul  look to bounce back after a week one gut-wrenching overtime defeat to the Arizona Rattlers 62-55 despite Full Back Derrick  “The Boss” Ross outstanding performance rushing for a Soul record six touchdowns. Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh finished the night by completing 22-of-35 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns and one interception, which was the Soul one and only turnover which cost them the game. Wide-out Tiger Jones added nine receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown.

San Jose SaberCats played spoiler to the  Portland Thunder Arena Football debut as they were victorious 64-34.  San Jose was led by Quarterback Russ Michna completing 12-of-16 passes for 166 yards and five touchdowns. Michna began the game with touchdown passes on 3-0f-4 passing attempts.

This will be the eighth meeting between the two, first of the season. The Soul lead the All-time series 4-3, winning the last two. In 2008 the Soul beat the SaberCats in Arena Bowl XXII 59-56, which was the Soul’s first championship.

Soul look to avoid starting the season 0-2 just for the second time in franchise history (2004 Soul inaugural season).
