Titans sign WR Brian Robiskie

The Tennessee Titans announced today they agreed to terms with veteran wide receiver Brian Robiskie. Per the team, it is a one-year deal.

Robiskie spent part of the 2013 season with the Atlanta Falcons, from whom he played one game. He originally broke into the NFL back in 2009 with the Cleveland Browns. The Browns selected him in the second round. He lasted two and a half seasons in Cleveland. The Jaguars picked him up off waivers, didn’t play him in 2011, and cut him in 2012. The Lions signed him at midseason. He caught four passes in six games, bringing his career total up to 43.

I watched Robiskie extensively when he played for Ohio State and saw a polished player for a collegian, but one who lacked NFL traits other than good size (listed at 6’4, 212 pounds). His professional career to date has not suggested I was inaccurate in my evaluation. (Why did the Browns draft him in the second round, then? I have no idea whatsoever, and never came up with a non-terrible explanation.) If he makes the team over Marc Mariani, Michael Preston, or the hypothetical draft pick I believe is/should be coming, I would not see that as a good sign. His presence should not affect the Titans’ draft strategy in any meaningful way.
