Titans make roster moves, re-sign Mark Jones

The Tennessee Titans have re-signed return specialist Mark Jones, Jonathan Hutton reports. The Titans also signed former Bengals and Saints safety Kevin Kaesviharn, reports Gary Estwick.
To make room for them on the roster, Craig Hentrich was placed on Injured Reserve and RB Chris Henry was released.
Also, former Titans CB Cary Williams was signed to the practice squad.
I was surprised the Titans released Jones in their final roster cutdowns. They signed him as an offseason free agent acquisition to replace Chris Carr, then decided they could do without him and go with rookies Ryan Mouton and Jason McCourty instead.

Jones did have hamstring issues during training camp but was able to play the final preseason game. I’m glad the Titans acknowledged the rookie experiment was a mistake and are giving Jones another chance.

In his five pro regular seasons, Jones has fumbled only twice on 156 punt returns, and not at all since 2005. He’s never fumbled a regular season kick return.
This might be the end of the line for the 38-year old Hentrich, who’s in his 17th NFL season. He surprised a lot of people when he decided to play again this year and I hope he’ll try it one more time. His dependability and versatility will be missed.
Kaesviharn was a cornerback before becoming a safety, so he’s versatile, and Jeff Fisher said he’s a quick learner. I doubt if he’ll be thrown into the action right away but it’s good to have him available if needed.
