Don’t look now, but the Royals are the hottest team in baseball. Winners of their last eight games, they now trail the Detroit Tigers by just one-half game for the lead in the AL Central.
Good teams make great plays, and that’s exactly what Royals CF Lorenzo Cain did in Monday’s 11-8 win against the Tigers.
With the team leading 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers were looking to mount a comeback, but Cain shut the door on them quickly.
Tigers J.D. Martinez crushed a ball toward the gap, for what would have been a surefire RBI double or possibly even a triple. But Cain dived and made a phenomenal catch—robbing him of an extra-base hit.
The Royals keep finding ways to win, and they’re getting it done with highlight-reel plays such as this one.
