Manny drives in four, Red Sox win 8-5

By

After a somewhat awful stretch of baseball certain Boston Red Sox players have been putting together good games and turning it around. Those players include Coco Crisp, Julio Lugo, and J.D. Drew, but one of the most important players Sox Nation has wanted to see get in a groove has been Manny Ramirez.
Ramirez put together a 2-2 performance with three RBI’s, four walks, two runs, and his 15th homerun of the season in the 8-5 win over the Chicago White Sox.
It definately seems like Manny being Manny is back and right in time as the New York Yankees offense routed the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 21-4.
Mike Lowell was 2-4 with three RBI’s, a run, and a homer, but down 8-1 in the top of the seventh, Chicago, scored four runs off of Tim Wakefield and Manny Delcarmen making it a three run game.
Hideki Okajima finished off the last out of the seventh and had a 1-3 inning in the eighth to pick up his 16th hold of the season.
Jonathan Papelbon finished out the game, although, Papelbon ran into some trouble in the ninth inning as Juan Uribe and Jerry Owens hit two singles to start off the ninth.
Papelbon walked the next batter, Alex Cintron, to load the bases putting the go-ahead run at the plate. Papelbon dug deep and gutted it out striking out Jim Thome for the first out and getting Paul Konerko to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to end the game giving Boston their third straight win.
Papelbon earned his 22nd save in the 26 pitch ninth inning.
Thanks to the bullpen, Wakefield, earned his 11th win of the season pitching for 6 1/3 innings, striking out two, walking two, on four runs, and six hits.
