Exciting win for Brew Crew…but…

…the Crew gained no ground in the Wild Card race, despite a thrilling tie-breaking home run from Prince Fielder in the bottom of the 9th inning, as the Mets pounded the Cubs earlier Tuesday.
The Brewers kept taking and giving away the lead all evening–after jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, Brewers’ starter Dave Bush gave up three runs in the top of the 2nd to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead. After plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th to take a 4-3 lead, Guillermo Mota gave up a 2-run homer to outfielder Steve Pierce to give the Pirates a 5-4 lead. But Jason Kendall doubled in J.J. Hardy to plate the tying run in the bottom of the 8th, setting the stage for Prince hitting his 34th homer on the year with Ryan Braun aboard to keep the Brewers just a game behind the Mets.
The enthusiasm the entire club showed after the victory was the true benefit on the night, as the club, hopefully, exorcised any remaining doubts of being able to win every game and making the playoffs.
CC Sabathia is slated to make the start Wednesday night, with Yovani Gallardo now activated and eligible to pitch in relief.
