NFL will utilize “flexible scheduling” on Sundays in Weeks 11-17. Flexible scheduling will ensure quality matchups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks and give teams a chance to play their way onto primetime and into the late-afternoon 4:15 PM ET time slot on CBS and FOX.

For each of the flexible scheduling weeks with the exception of Week 17, the NFL will announce the start times of games on Sundays no later than 12 days prior to that weekend. To ensure a Sunday night game and doubleheader games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday may be made on six days notice.

And NBC says last night’s Patriots-Colts game was a ratings winner.

“SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL” POWERS NBC TO VICTORY

SNF Top Rated Program on the Night, Trouncing Desperate Housewives by 16%

NEW YORK – November 3, 2008 - The Indianapolis Colts 18-15 victory over the Tom Brady-less New England Patriots on "NBC Sunday Night Football," won the night for NBC while facing strong competition from original programs on ABC, CBS and Fox. SNF delivered an 11.9 overnight rating and 18 share (8:30-11:00 p.m., ET), a three percent gain over last season's Cowboys-Eagles game (11.5/18) and was the highest rated broadcast of the night on any network, beating Desperate Housewives on ABC by 16 percent (10.3/15).

Last night's rating peaked between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. ET at a 12.5/20.

Top Ten Metered Markets For Colts-Patriots:
1. Indianapolis, 40.1/52
2. Providence, 29.4/41
3. Boston, 27.5/41
4. Nashville, 18.3/25
5. Washington D.C., 16.0/24
6. Las Vegas, 15.4/23
7. Pittsburgh, 14.7/20
8. Baltimore, 14.4/21
T9. San Diego, 13.9/24
T9. Sacramento, 13.9/21

Interesting to see P
rovidence getting higher ratings than Boston.
