Round Table

Today we welcome our three favorite fans to a round table discussion of the 2008 Colts.  We have Big Blue Homer, Shakey Realist, and Demond Doom* here to discuss the ins and outs of the prospects for the Horse.

Topic #1:  The Colts prospects this week for a 12-4 record
BBH:  Tennessee is the most overrated team in football with nothing to play for.  Sorgi should carve them up.  Colts 56-9 over the Vince Youngs.

SR:  Indy will probably play their starters for at least a half.  Manning will definitely stick around to rack up 100 yards passing and go over the 4000 yard mark.  As Tennessee has nothing to play for either, I think the Colts have a 70% chance to win the game.

DD:  Manning plays for 5 snaps.  Sorgi comes in and craps on himself.  Fisher and Dungy actually shout across the sidelines to each other to just take a knee.  Vince Young will fumble the ball, but Chris Johnson will pick it up and break approximately 100 tackles for a touchdown.  No way in hell we win this weekend.

Topic #2:  Chances Peyton Manning wins the MVP Award

DD:  The media hates Manning.  They are sick of him and are looking for a chance to deny him a pedestal along with Brett Favre.  Manning is the only logical candidate, and there are no arguments against him, but some idiot will end up pushing for the Steelers defensive secondary, and Manning will get screwed.  They’ll probably give it some *&*&$^ like Phil Rivers.

BBH:  MANNING HAS TO WIN.  ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR ANYONE ELSE SHOULD BE EXILED TO VENEZUELA AND TAUGHT THAT FREEDOM OF THE PRESS IS A #$@$## RESPONSIBILITY.  Manning gets 25 votes and wins easy.

SR:  Manning is the clear front runner and has been named the favorite by several people with votes.  There will be some push for a defensive player to win, but there isn’t any one player with a good enough season to merit consideration.  Manning wins a split vote, possibly with as little as 15 votes.

Topic #3:  Denver or San Diego in round one.
SR:  Realistically, San Diego is the favorite to win that game.  Their Pythagorean win total is better than the Broncos, and they have more talent.  Still, with Norv Turner on the sideline, anything is possible.

DD:  ARRARGH.  SAN DIEGO WILL KILL DENVER.  I hate my life.

BBH:  Who gives a crap.  Denver is awful, and we ALREADY BEAT San Diego at home.

Topic #4:  Chances the Colts win the Super Bowl

DD:  I don’t think we beat San Diego to be honest.  This team isn’t very good.  They’ve had a great season worth celebrating, but I think this is as far as they can go.

SR:  The Colts’ actual odds of winning the Super Bowl are about 5%.  This season sets up a lot like 2006.  The Colts will likely have a tough time winning their first round game, but if they do, there is a decent chance they pull a road upset in round two.  They may even back into a home game in the AFC Championship if they get that far.  Realistically, without a credible run game, they probably can’t go deeper than the second round.

BBH:  The Colts are a great team who already beat Pittsburgh, New England and San Diego.  I think they maul the first round opponent, and go on a historic run.  COLTS ALL THE WAY, BABY!

Final Thoughts:
BBH:  GO COLTS!  ALL THE WAY!

SR:  It’s been a great season that should be enjoyed and appreciated

DD: (Has stuck his head in the oven and can’t be bothered to come to the keyboard to respond)

*Panelists are all a figment of DZ’s mind. Any similarity to real persons living or dead is strictly coincidental and probably a little tongue-in-cheek.

Demond Sanders:  First of all, those aren’t my exact thoughts.  The Titans are nuts if we see any Chris Johnson at all.  Or White for that matter.  Second, I think Manning will win the MVP with relative ease.  Third, I’m not the one who sounded like he was going to cry the other day when we were on the phone talking about a potential Chargers match-up.  Other than that you are fairly on target.

PK thinks Housh should walk to Indy as a free agent.  Huh.
I don’t like free agent WRs in general.  I’d rather see Harrison restructure and find a niche as a third down slot guy.

Kuharsky says what we all suspect.  Manning is getting at least 93 yards on Sunday.

The Niners make me sad for the state of their franchise.  Would someone trade them hometown boy Tom Brady please?

JDR’s scapegoat is told to pack up his things.

The response by the Patriots to this story makes no sense to me.
