Brewers 4, Braves 0: Perhaps The Sky Isn't Falling

This is why Yovani Gallardo is awesome, but it’d be nice if Ken Macha wasn’t trying to make his arm fall off.

Gallardo threw 7.1 scoreless innings, outdueling the previously unbeaten Tommy Hanson and driving in a run of his own at the plate in a 4-0 Brewers win.  Gallardo only allowed 4 hits against the Braves, a team that pounded out 17 the night before.  Yo also struck out 6, but walked 4 — the result being a too-high-for-comfort pitch count before Macha finally pulled the plug.

Todd Coffey and Mitch Stetter went the remaining 1.2 innings without allowing a baserunner.  Felipe Lopez returned to the lineup after missing a pair of games due to hamstring soreness, but went 1-for-5.

Before the game it was announced that Seth McClung will be heading to the 15-day DL after leaving last night’s game with elbow soreness.  The soreness is a cause for concern due to the fact that it’s in the same elbow that McClung had surgically repaired.  In his place, Tim Dillard was called up from AAA, and he will presumably take the rotation spot formally occupied by Mike Burns, who shifts into McClung’s long relief role.

The Brewers go for a series win tomorrow.
