He’s in A.F.R.I.C.A.!  (Remember that Stetsasonic jam back in the day? “A.F.R.I.C.A.”  Loved that song.)

Anyhow, our boy, Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh continued his busy summer with a trip to Africa as a part of the NBA’s ‘Basketball without Borders’  program.

“Basketball without Borders, which is returning to Africa for the seventh time, is the league’s global basketball development and community outreach program, which uses sports to influence positive social change, and features dozens of current and former NBA/WNBA players and team personnel as camp coaches.”

While in Africa, Bosh, along with other NBA players like Dwight Howard, Dikembe Mutumbo, Carlos Boozer, Jason Maxiell and DJ Mbenga, put on basketball clinics, made visits to various poor areas including an orphanage for children with AIDS, and worked with Habitat for Humanity to build houses under the hot African sun.

Even Dirk is doin’ work…!

There’s no comparison. People here live in shacks — houses with four corners and a metal sheet for a roof. We worked on this house for this family and it was a huge upgrade for them. But if you and I were asked to live in something like that, well, we wouldn’t like it at all. But these people were actually happy.”
