Quick MLB Blurbs

After wondering how I was going to get updates to you today, I found that I have a couple of short windows just like MLB to get ALCS Game 2 in tonight to these to you.

First, MLB says people are watching the League Championship Series at the highest levels since 2006.

FIRST THREE LCS GAMES AVERAGE HIGHEST TV VIEWERSHIP SINCE 2006

After two days, LCS coverage on TBS and FOX through three games is averaging a 4.2 U.S. household rating, the best two-day average in the three years since FOX and TBS began sharing the League Championship Series coverage. Friday night, a combined 12.8 million viewers watched the Dodgers 2-1 victory over the Phillies on TBS and the Yankees 4-1 victory over the Angels on FOX.

Next, MLB says Philadelphia is responding big time to the MLB Postseason.

MLB POSTSEASON KEEPS PHILLIES FANS GLUED TO THEIR TV SETS

Nationally, TBS Draws Nearly 7 Million Viewers for Game 1 of NLCS

With the Phillies looking to become the first team to repeat as World Series champion since the Yankees in 1998-2000, their fan base is tuning in at an astonishing pace, highlighted by Thursday night’s 8-6 victory over the Dodgers in Game One of the NLCS, which was watched by nearly 30 percent of TV households in the Philadelphia market.

The 28.8 local household rating for last night was up 21% over last year’s NLCS Game One – also against the Dodgers – and it was the most-watched Phillies game in the region since last year’s World Series clincher.

Nationally, Thursday night’s game drew nearly 7 million viewers, and its 4.3 U.S. household rating was up 5% over last year’s comparable game on TBS. As a whole, the MLB Postseason continues to see double-digit viewership growth for TBS over last year in U.S. household ratings (+10%), total viewers (+11%) and households (+11%).

MLB also started a new ad campaign during the LCS.

CAN YOU IDENTIFY THE MLB PLAYERS?

(Hint: They’re All Still Playing Baseball This Month)

MLB debuted a new thirty-second spot entitled “Beyond a Childhood Dream” featuring players from each of the four clubs competing in the League Championship Series. The spot, an extension of its season-long “This is Beyond Baseball” advertising campaign, debuted during Game One of the NLCS on TBS Thursday
.

The childhod photos fade into current footage of the four players in uniform today as they make their childhood dreams come true while striving to win the 2009 World Series.

In addition to TBS, the spot also aired on FOX beginning with Game One of the ALCS on Friday, MLB Network and other networks.

And the perfect Christmas gift is being released next month. The entire World Series film collection starting with the first highlight film shot in 1943 all the way until 2008.
