Straight Outta…Cincinnati

Just a little heads up to the Cincinnati Bengals fans, no one can teach pigs to fly. According to NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora, the Bengals have contacted the representatives of former Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell. Chad Ochocinco was the first to break the story when he told his twitter audience that he would see Russell in the Bengals June Mini-camp. I wish good luck to all those involved…seriously.

In other news, it appears O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson is looking to stir up a beef of California size proportions. Cube’s new documentary “Straight Outta L.A.” chronicles the Raiders 13 years in Los Angeles. But as Chuck Barney Points out, Cube makes it a point to throw a punch at the city of Oakland, and in effect the Raiders for leaving L.A. at the end of the film when he says, “One thing I know for sure, the silver and black might call another place home, but the Raiders will always belong to L.A.”

Cube also calls on Gangsta Rappa Cordozar Calvin Broadus (aka Snoop Dogg) who says that “The hip-hop nation fueled the Raider nation” during the Raiders time in L.A. citing that the rap group NWA’s wearing of Raiders merchandise and apparel added a whole new fan base to the franchise. It was a fan base that Chuck Barney called “Gangs”, saying, “Thuggery became prevalent in the Los Angeles Coliseum, prompting families to flee in droves.”

I haven’t watched it yet, but don’t worry, I recorded it and will certainly watch it at some point. Here’s a teaser:

The dates and times of the Raiders exhibition games were released Monday. The Raiders will travel to the Cowboys new facility on August 12th, followed by a trip to Chicago on August 21st, then two homes games against the 49ers on August 28th and old divisional foe the Seattle Seahawks on September 2nd.

The reason I am reposting it is to let everyone know that all the games can be legally watch on Justin.tv.com. It is a website that will provide free live video streaming of all the NFL preseason games. Regular season games will be much harder to find, but I assure you they are out there…in cyberspace, sorry no links for those as they are illegal.

And to wrap it up, just a little tidbit, starting on Thursday night, I will be revisiting the past three Raider’s off-season’s one at a time. Starting with the class of 2007 and ending with the class of 2009. I will be chronicling the free agents signings and the progress made thus far by the rookie classes of those individual time periods. Be sure to check back for that.

Other than that, enjoy the Ice Cube feature (let me know if he gets too Gangsta for you) and keep an ear open for Russell to the Bengals. See you on the flip side.
