Preseason Game 3 tonight

The Giants play the Ravens in Baltimore tonight.  This is usually the big tuneup for the first string players.

Let’s see some crisp play from the first unit.

Some items of note:
1) With O’Hara out for the rest of preseason, Seubert will start at Center.
2) Alford turning it on full throttle, let’s see what he’s got tonight.
3) Good things from Kenny Phillips-land reported earlier this week.  Let’s see if he is flying to the ball vs the Ravens.  You can take everything else from this game and forget about it IF Phillips looks good.  This can be gi-normous.
4) Vacchiano reports on the walking wounded who will not play:

WR Ramses Barden (back), WR Sinorice Moss (groin), C Shaun O’Hara (ankle/Achilles), RB D.J. Ware (concussion), TE Travis Beckum (neck), QB Jim Sorgi (shoulder), S Michael Johnson (back), CB Aaron Ross (foot), CB Terrell Thomas (calf), DT Chris Canty (groin), and LB Chase Blackburn (knee). DE Jason Pierre-Paul (groin) is questionable.

5) Vacchiano even went further, chronicling all of the injuries this preseason.  This site has a reputation for ‘glass-half-empty’ because we are looking for championships, not just a congratulatory pat on the back for making it to the playoffs.  And that is why the number of injuries is startling.  We had this problem last preseason with guys like Ross, Boley and Canty hurt.  Then Phillips out of nowhere disappears at the end of preseason to nurse a knee.  All things being what they are, the long list of injuries is not a good thing.
6) Schwartz gives us some last minute perspective on the Bomar/Sorgi backup picture.  My two cents- as much as I am a supporter of Bomar being nurtured and groomed as a 3 or 4 year process, it being the beginning of Year 2 with him never actually being on the roster until now means he is LIKELY NOT READY YET.  The QB from last weekend is certainly NOT READY.  You know, the one who was telegraphing every single (and inconsistent) throw.

Elsewhere:
1) Signs of intelligent life- Guess which coach is not well-liked in the Giants Universe?  Shocking.  Not.
2) Once a dirtbag, always a dirtbag.  This one is reason enough not to bring him back for a workout.
