Your Morning Dump… Where KG is outrunning guys

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

"It's night and day [from last season]. I still wish he would take a break in practice more, but that's a whole other issue that we'll have to solve. He's explosive again, especially defensively, and that's great. He outran guys in our scrimmage earlier, at least three times. Once, he got the rebound, threw it out, and still out ran all the bigs down the floor. He couldn't do that last year, and even if he could, he didn't think he could. To me, that's the biggest change."

I know… praise in training camp is bull sh-t. Everybody feels good and looks good.

But this is Kevin Garnett we're talking about. Last season, the dude's knee was held together by some funky black tape.

On the first day of camp, Doc Rivers said KG was explosive. Now we hear that he's running wind sprints past everybody.

We should take notice and feel good about his improvement. He's the key to our title chances.

On Page 2, Doc reminisces about the old Marquis Daniels.

“Post player, he defended everybody, played with high energy – that all went away,” the Celtics coach said yesterday. “It’s in him, we just have to get it back out of him.”

“Marquis has a role on this team that we need, but we need assurance that he can do it, and we know that he can do it,” Rivers said. “I told him that before practice. I need him to be the Marquis we had the first month of the season, not the Marquis we had at the end of the year.

Daniels second half fade has puzzled us all. But now Marquis is hinting the thumb inury may have hampered him all season.

“I don’t like using excuses,” he said. “It was OK. I just tried to play through it last year.”

Stay healthy my friend.
