Recap: Vintage KG

Kevin Garnett got me giddy tonight.  He had everything working in his just under 20 minutes of play… finishing the game with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.  He was dunking, shooting and hounding guys on defense.  It was classic KG… complete with him looking and sounding spry (there were at least a couple of expletives caught by the tv mics).

The C's were down double digits at one point in the 3rd quarter, but they whipped off a huge run and outscored the Knicks 53-39 in the second half to finish with a 97-84 win.

Some other highlights:

  • Rajon Rondo was a beast… especially after taking an elbow to the cheek.  He finished with 2 points (on 1-3 shooting)… but 9 assists and 8 rebounds.
  • Paul Pierce had a quiet 16 on a very efficient 6-11 shooting.
  • Big Baby had a nice stretch… finishing with 15 and 7… but he was a game high +20.  He was on the floor for that entire double-digit comeback.
  • The battle between Von Wafer, Stephane Lasme, and Mario West was pretty much a draw between Wafer and Lasme…with West still on the outside looking in.

Mike Gorman made an interesting statement during the game.  He said it's possible the C's carry 14 players into the season instead of 15.  That would mean instead of 2 of the last 3 guys mentioned being cut…. we could see all 3 cut.

Gorman could just be guessing… but Gorman has been around a long time.  And he's around this team all the time.  He typically doesn't say things out of turn.
