John Axford may be a rockstar in Milwaukee, but it’s nothing compared to the treatment he gets north of the border.
Axford received a Special Recognition Award at the annual Baseball Canada banquet on Saturday night, honoring some of the game’s best Canadian players. Phillies pitcher Scott Mathieson also received a Special Recognition Award after being named the Philadelphia organization’s Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Russell Martin, Jeff Francis, Michael Saunders, and Scott Richmond were among the other Canucks also in attendance at the event.
Of course, the Toronto Sun asked the one question we really care about — where’s the mustache?
“Hibernating, it will be back for opening day,” Axford said
