Leftover Nuggets from Denver

Wow.  While enjoying a quick trip to the city of Denver to take in a road game between the hometown Nuggets and the Celtics, that was about the only reaction I could muster.  No, it wasn't how impressed I was with the city of Denver itself.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but I highly recommend visiting if you ever get the chance.  No, it wasn't my reaction by how friendly the people were.  It had nothing to do with how easy the public transportation was or the fine selection of dining establishments.  It certainly wasn't my reaction when I arrived to the Pepsi Center (although this was easily one of the best arenas I've been to).

That reaction was reserved for when my phone exploded with texts and calls that generally had this theme: "WTF?!?!?!!?! THEY TRADED PERK?!?!?!"  While most of the Celtic-related trade deadline questions were generally those of plugging the gap left behind by Marquis Daniels, nobody expected… this.  I think the collective reactions from Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce following the loss to the Nuggets spoke volumes about losing Perk.  Rajon Rondo's bellowing silence also said enough, althoug he rarely speaks anyway and when he does it's not very transparent. If you're a hardcore Celtics fan, the team does feel like a family in a sense, especially when it's a championship contending team with so many engaging personalities.

Maybe that was part of the problem.  We got glimpses of how close they were with the fantastic ESPN "The Association: The Boston Celtics" videos.  That's a big part of what being a fan of this team is, and what separates it from being a fan of another team.  It means a lot more.  Of course every fan can make the same argument about their team, but true Celtics fans know what I mean.

Being that Redsarmy.com has always been about the fans, I asked a few questions to my Twitter followers about how they felt in regards to losing Perk.  Here are all of your replies:

On how everyone felt on "Day 2 without Perk:"

I then asked if winning banner #18 was the only thing that would alleviate the pain of seeing Perk get traded to Oklahoma City.  Here were your replies:

Finally, I asked if the following scenario is viable in the future, which do you prefer: Attempt to re-sign Perk or go all at an attempt to sign Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic.  Here were your replies:

While attending the C's/Nuggets game in Denver, I came across this Celtics fan (I think he said his name was Nelson, my apologies).  Clearly, he was not in favor of trading Kendrick Perkins.

Lastly (seriously this time), here is a quick clip showing how many Celtics fans were in Denver:
