It’s a split squad day, so the most noteworthy thing about the lineups is Jerry Narron’s impeccable penmanship.
The lineups were posted yesterday, but looking at them again this morning I stumbled upon an interesting tidbit — also visible in the TwitPic by Fox 6 Sports’ Jen Lada is the list of other available bench players for both squads. Since we’re early in the spring, we can probably expect the young guys to get most of the PT, and there are actually a few players listed that weren’t on the list of non-roster invitees. In the Giants game, Cody Hawn and Erik Komatsu are among the available players. In the Cubs game, Cutter Dykstra, Scooter Gennett, and Shea Vucinich are on the lineup card.
They’re not names that are going to stick around in camp, but they are brought in to make sure there are enough bodies to play a full game. If you’re interested in who’s starting today’s games, they’re listed after the jump, along with a couple other thoughts.

Unfortunately, split squad games mean we can’t really see what Ron Roenicke is thinking yet when it comes to the “real” lineup. It does seem like the coaching staff is trying to keep most of the regulars in their normal spots, though — Weeks, Fielder, and McGehee are hitting 1-4-5 in Maryvale while Braun is hitting third in Mesa.
I know it’s only spring training, but the thought of Mark Kotsay hitting cleanup at any time this year is enough to make the stomach churn a little.
