The Titans add DT Zach Clayton in 7th round

Of all the people that had predicted the Titans would draft a defensive tackle from Auburn, I doubt if any of them had Zach Clayton in mind.  This is another pick that doesn’t initially impress me.

The scouting report on Clayton says he’s another quick but not especially big or strong guy.  He won’t win any battles of strength on the line of scrimmage.  I thought we were trying to get bigger, more powerful d-linemen but maybe that was a misconception.  However, if Tracy Rocker gave his approval to this, I’ll try not to think too many negative thoughts, even though NFL Draft Scout ranked him the 26th best DT and 329th best overall player.

Clayton will join third-round pick Jurrell Casey and fifth-round pick Karl Klug in the competition for a spot in the DT rotation, assuming the Titans don’t try moving Klug out to DE.
