FC Dallas Looks to Stay Unbeaten vs Union

It has been a busy week for FC Dallas fans this past week, they just got by Toronto FC in a 1-0 victory Wednesday night and then came Thursday where news of an FC Dallas press conference had the MLS world buzzing about who they may have just signed, but it was to announce the re-signing of midfielder Brek Shea who is now with the team thru 2015. Now FC Dallas must refocus and turn their attention to tonight’s matchup against the second place Philadelphia Union.

FC Dallas takes on the Union

FC Dallas has been a bit of a surprise lately, they have moved into third place in the Western Conference and have gone unbeaten in their last four games, and they have done all of this without the services of their MVP David Ferreira.

Offensively the past few games have been a bit ugly to watch, they only had a total of 3 shots on goal in Wednesday nights match against Toronto, and if not for the PK given to Daniel Hernandez, FC Dallas probably comes out with only 1 point Wednesday night. FC Dallas also had a terrible performance offensively the previous week against D.C. United, and they only have some late game heroics by Kevin Hartman to thank for salvaging a point in D.C.

Defensively FC Dallas had a really good game Wednesday night and they will need another good performance tonight, because they will face two experienced and talented strikers in Letoux and Ruiz, and if given space these two can wreak havoc on an opponent’s backline.

As far as formation for tonight’s match I am not sure what to expect from Schellas Hyndman. On Wednesday night FC Dallas came out in the 4-1-4-1 and it appeared that they transitioned into the more traditional 4-4-2 about 15 minutes into the match, with Castillo and Chavez playing up top. But if I had to guess I would expect to see Castillo playing up top by himself to start off the match, with Milton Rodriguez still out due to injury.

Overall, FC Dallas has had some questionable play offensively but despite everything they have been just finding a way to win and have had a couple of “grind” it out games which is always good to see from your team.
