Updated: Jamal Crawford considering the Kings

Multiple reports, including one from ESPN’s Chris Broussard, say free agent guard Jamal Crawford has narrowed his choices to three preferred destinations.

Crawford reportedly declined a two-year, $10-million deal from the Indiana Pacers.   Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated has details on the offers from both the Trailblazers and Kings.

The source close to Crawford said a deal with the Blazers or Kings is likely to be for approximately $5 million, with each scenario offering its own questions as well.

As far as the Knicks are concerned, their offer is the lowest among the three.  Multiple reports say Crawford is considering a contract worth about $2.5-million from New York.

So why are the Kings pursuing Crawford when they drafted Jimmer Fredette in June and just re-signed Marcus Thornton last Friday?  Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee says Kings ownership is “determined to improve team this season” and adds that the Maloofs don’t appreciate “the perception that they are just sitting on their cap space.”
