CK Postgame Report: Bulls 108, Kings 98

Not pleased.

“We could have and should have won that game,” said Head Coach Paul Westphal following tonight’s 108-98 loss to the Chicago Bulls. “And it’s not an excuse for our team to be young.”

Tonight’s contest was a game of runs between both clubs, with the Bulls edging out the Kings in the end.  Defense, especially in transition, was not stellar.  The Bulls scored 33 fastbreak points against the Kings in the victory.  And missed free throws cost Sacramento 14 easy points.

Notes and Analysis
  • DeMarcus Cousins fouled out for the first time this season with just under five minutes to play in the 4th quarter. After leading the league with 332 personal fouls last year, Cousins already has 15 in just three games.
  • The Kings shot 8-of-17 from three-point range (47.1 percent).  Marcus Thornton went 4-for-6, while Jimmer Fredette and John Salmons each went 2-for-4.
  • The Kings continued their nightmare start to the season from the free throw line.  In a 10-point loss, shooting just 20-of-34 (58.8%) from the line, just isn’t going to cut it.
  • Francisco Garcia, the team’s longest tenured player, has received three straight DNP-CDs to start the season.
  • After averaging 12.5 minutes a game over the first two contests, rookie Isaiah Thomas played just 24 seconds tonight in the loss.
  • Carlos Boozer came into the game averaging just 4.5 rebounds per contest.  Tonight he grabbed 15 total, increasing his season average to eight.
  • Ronnie Brewer scored 12 points off the Bulls bench in just 12 minutes of play, going 5-of-5 from the field, including 2-of-2 from three-point range.  The Bulls bench went 5-of-6 from distance.
  • Jimmer has increased his scoring output each of his first three games and is now averaging 10 points per game.
  • Stat of the night: The Bulls outscored the Kings 33 to 14 on fast break points, missing just one of their 16 attempts.
