Kevin Johnson unveils list of 20-plus Sacramento Kings corporate sponsors

After checking off a new prospective ownership group and delivering a plan for a new arena, Kevin Johnson and Think Big Sacramento have turned back their attention to proving the viability of the Sacramento corporate base.

In a meeting with Johnson this morning, 25 local businesses and organizations reaffirmed their collective pledge of $50 million in corporate sponsorships for the Sacramento Kings’ in the first five seasons at the proposed entertainment and sports center.

“Once again, our corporate community has come through in the clutch,” Mayor Johnson said in a official press release. “This group – representing companies across our entire region – understand the critical role that both the NBA and new downtown entertainment and sports complex will play in promoting job creation, economic growth, and civic pride in our community. I applaud their exceptional leadership and powerful demonstration of just how strong and viable our market is.”

Johnson will use this commitment, as well as pledges from prospective season ticket holders as part of his pitch to the NBA’s relocation and finance committee in an Apr. 3rd meeting in New York.  Through HereWeBuy.org, Think Big has set its sights on reaching 10,000 commitments for season tickets before the meeting with NBA owners next week.
