You can keep on calling La Salle “Guard U” as today they picked up their first commitment from the 2014 class. According to Marcus Helton of DMVElite.com, guard Johnnie Shuler out of Theodore Roosevelt (DC) has committed to La Salle.

Shuler also had offers from Fairfield, Quinnipiac, and Seton Hall. This is a great pick up by the Explorers as their offense is based around guard play. According to Roosevelt’s head coach Rob Nickens, he said about La Salle is that “they came to see him several times here in the city, and came to visit Roosevelt a couple of times.”

Shuler also visited La Salle over the weekend and enjoyed his time.

I like the way that the coaches coach there and help the players out, and I liked the atmosphere there, too.

Last season, as a junior for Roosevelt, he averaged 11.3 points per game and led them to a 26-4 record. One thing I can say is head coach Dr. John Giannini sure knows how to recruit guards as next year the Explorers will be loaded at the guard position.

With Amar Stukes who might be redshirted his season, they will have along with Shuler, Cleon Roberts, Jordan Price, and Khalid Lewis. So expect La Salle to keep on getting better and building.
