PHOTOS: New Sacramento Kings arena concepts included in environmental report draft

Details of the environmental impact of the proposed downtown arena have been released in a new study.  Published yesterday afternoon, the City of Sacramento publicly issued a draft of the environmental impact report, which was prepared according to the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

“We commend the City of Sacramento on reaching this latest milestone in our efforts to revitalize the downtown and create over 4,000 jobs,” Kings president Chris Granger said in a prepared statement Monday. “We look forward to continuing to work with the City and Sacramento residents as we build not only the most state-of-the-art and fan-friendly arena in the NBA, but the most environmentally sustainable as well. This project will be built to the highest environmental standards possible – from farm to fork concessions and recycling to public transit and air quality.”

The informational document published Monday is “subject to review and comment by the public, as well as responsible agencies and other interested jurisdictions, agencies, and organizations for a period of 45 days”.  The period began yesterday and ends Jan. 31, 2014.

During this 45-day period, the public will have ample time to offer their input on the project.  A workshop on the environmental study will be held tomorrow night at 6 pm at City Hall and will include a brief presentation on the EIR draft.

Below are some simulated photos of what the planned arena would like like at the Downtown Plaza location.  A link to the entire environmental impact report draft can be found here.
