The other day I was scrolling through Instagram and saw the Coyotes post congratulating Mike Smith for making Team Canada. As I scrolled down one of the comments caught my eye. Someone was claiming Yandle was not American. At the point I decided to read the comments leading up to said comment. It was just someone expressing disappointment Yandle didn't make Team USA.
I kept scrolling through my Instagram feed. I didn't feel like commenting or getting involved with arguing with someone who was apparently not very smart. I thought maybe someone else would see and correct. But I couldn't stop thinking about this poor, unfortunate soul who claimed Yandle was not American. So I went back. No one had said anything, so I did.
I went back and forth with this person a few times and finally decided to let them live in their ignorant bliss.
The next day I had a new notification on Instagram and I noticed my notices from the Smith photo were gone. I went to the Coyotes feed and they had deleted the picture. Why?
I don't feel the conversation between me and this person was that bad (although he did call me a dumbass for thinking Yandle was American) to warrant removing the picture/comments. Why did the Coyotes not come in and say, "Yandle is American" or something along those lines? How hard would it have been for them to let the guy know he was wrong? Maybe he would have actually believed the team. Now he will just continue to think the New England is part of England.
This is not the first time this has happened. I have heard of the Coyotes deleting social media content when "controversy" appears. I don't think this is the best way to go about that. There was no reason for the picture to be removed. Why not just step in. Why not have a sense of humor about things? The Coyotes social media accounts are too straight laced. People are going to disagree on your posts. People are going to have "arguments". Some of the best social media accounts in the NHL interact with fans and poke fun at the teams their playing.
I think the Coyotes have the chance to make their social media more interactive and more fun. And stop deleting posts because of what people say! If you don't like what someone says, step in, say something and then ban them if they continue.

What do you think? Should the Coyotes delete their social media posts because of something in the comments? Should they be more interactive, more fun… maybe something along the lines of the Kings twitter account? Should the Coyotes spice up their social media? What would you like to see from the various social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)?
*ETA* I have been informed there was an error in the post and that is why it was deleted. I still think that is pretty lame and why not remove it sooner? The post was up for quite some time before being removed (at least a day?). I get it, mistakes happen. I make typing errors all the time. If I notice it later I make a joke in the comments. And obviously it wasn't too bad of a mistake because I didn't notice and I usually notice other people's errors (not always my own LOL).
