It had to be weird for Drew Smyly to show up to the clubhouse at Progressive Field in Cleveland a few hours before the game and not see any of his teammates. Stuck in Boston overnight due to plane problems, the Tigers were unable to get to Cleveland until just a couple hours before gametime, leaving Smyly, who took off to Cleveland early Sunday to rest up for his Monday start, alone just hours before first pitch.

Justin Verlander and J.D. Martinez made sure to tweet Smyly and assure him they were not going to stand him up.
Smyly’s pre-start meal on this Monday? A pizza and a gatorade, it appears. Classic.
