Taking it old school, Eagles turn back the hands of time with possible uniform upgrade

Earlier today, it was announced that the Philadelphia Eagles were possibly taking steps to use the famed “Kelly” Green uniforms that the team wore during the 80’s and early part of the 1990’s. For some odd reason, Philadelphia fans love the somewhat iconic green throwback jerseys. Most football fans seem to think that the old San Diego Chargers powder blue jerseys are the best in football, but around these parts it’s all about the Kelly Green. But hold your horses folks!! Those sweet light green jerseys are not coming back full time as first speculated but not all hope is lost.

In fact, the jerseys would serve as an alternative to the midnight green jerseys that are currently the teams primary color. The team used the Kelly Green look from 1985 -1996 and it captured the hearts of the city and it has since not been forgotten. The Midnight Green jersey is very modern and very sleek looking, but when placed in comparison to the classic look of the Kelly Green jersey the switch would be welcomed. Some of the best wore that Kelly Green jersey; Jerome Brown, Reggie White, Randall Cunningham, Irving Fryar, the list goes on and on.

Do not get the message wrong at all, its not as if the city does not love the midnight green but it has been 20 years since the Eagles had a uniform upgrade minus the addition of the “Charcoal” jersey in the 2000’s. Some restrictions are prohibiting the move to the Kelly Green jersey but it is being talked about and the fact that the simple idea of a uniform change would be met with rousing support has to be a good feeling if you are Eagles management.

What do you think? Should the Eagles take it back to the glory days and use the Kelly Green jersey or keep it modern and try to rewrite history using the sleek Midnight Green jersey?
