The Reno Bighorns are in search of a new head coach and an NBA lifer who’s most remembered for his time with the New York Knicks is being considered for the job. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, former NBA guard Darrell Walker is one of a handful candidates who have interviewed for the position.

Multiple reports have suggested that the Sacramento Kings, who run basketball operations for the Bighorns, have already decided on the team’s next head coach. However, sources have told Cowbell Kingdom that they’ve yet to make a hire.

Walker played 11 years in the NBA, which included three seasons with the Knicks. Following his career as a player, Walker transitioned into the coaching ranks and gained experience in the CBA, WNBA and NBA. He spent the last season and a half as an assistant with the Knicks under former head coach Mike Woodson.

Walker was spotted in Sacramento on Friday. The former Knicks guard was seen chatting with Sacramento Kings brass and players following practice in the team’s training facility in Natomas.

The Bighorns are in search of a new head coach following the departure of Joel Abelson. The former Bighorns head coach left the franchise this summer to take a job in the front office of Knicks’ D-League affiliate in White Plains, NY.
