Tickets are pricey, but Lexington hotels are not for Saturday night matchup against Kentucky

The South Carolina Gamecocks will get their second chance to knock off the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, February 14th at Rupp Arena. In their first meeting, Kentucky proved why they’re ranked second in the nation in points allowed (51.5 ppg), allowing South Carolina to only score 43 points (19 in the second half) en route to a 15 point victory on January 24th.

Kentucky (23-0, 10-0) hasn’t had many close calls this season, but had one of their smallest winning margins this past Saturday playing at Florida. After winning four consecutive games by double digits, Florida led Kentucky at halftime before the Wildcats pulled away in the second half and won by seven points.

The Wildcats are unsure if they will have starting forward Trey Lyles available for the game on Saturday. Lyles missed the last three games due to an undisclosed illness.

Head Coach Frank Martin is in the third season of the rebuilding process at South Carolina. Martin was the runner-up in the Associated Press’ National Coach of the Year award in 2010 at Kansas State, but has yet to reach a postseason tournament with the Gamecocks.
