It’s Time

It's Time

Hello Followers.

And so it actually happened.

Today, our Washington State Cougars got completely outclassed by a second tier FCS school–and at home no less. In so doing, Mike Leach became 0-4 in his career in WSU season openers, and the possibility of going to a second bowl in three years suddenly went from possible to absolutely non-existent.

So, where do we go from here?

Well, the path that we’re going to take is to take the so-called “measured” road, and that means blame our players for their lack of focus and not “buying in”, blame our coaches for not getting the kids ready to play, blame the officials for ruling Bender’s pass an INT, and generally pretend that things could work out moving forward.

Of course, we all know that things are not going to work out.  Not with Mike Leach as head coach.

So, the honorable thing to do is for Moos to step up and fire Mike Leach tomorrow, appoint Jason Gesser (or Mike Price) interim coach, and in doing, keep folks like you and me interested in what  Cougar Football might become with a different man in charge.

Cuz the fact of the matter is that in Year 4 of Wulff–a tenure that was unacceptable and dreadful by any standard–we averaged around 59 points a game against the Cream Puffs in Week 1 and 2.  And so, today’s performance stood as exhibits A-Z that Mike Leach’s shtick simply does not work and will not work at Washington State.  Period.

And so, the only way to get around this is to get a big donor to pony up 5 million dollars to get a guy like Jason Gesser on the cheap, and give him a three year shot to see if he can turn this thing around.

Mind you, I’m not saying that such swift, aggressive action will get us back to a bowl. But after today, its pretty clear that Mike Leach won’t either.

Moreover, as today’s capacity crowd of 7,541 today showed us, I don’t think there are many of us who are going to be around to watch to see how this season or story ends–and that only portends to add to the financial burden and PR nightmare that Mike Leach’s tenure has now become.

Cuz we’ve seen this movie too many times before and weathered it only because the former coaches were one of our own.

GERONIMO!!!!!

It's Time

All for now. Go Cougs.
