Patriots vs. Cowboys Week 4 Preview

Well the bye week is over and the Patriots are back on the Practice field as they prepare to play the Cowboys Sunday afternoon. At the beginning of the season this is one of the games you circled and said this is going to be good, but maybe not so much anymore with Romo and Bryant out. Don’t get me wrong it is not going to be a walk in the park but the Cowboys are a totally different team without Romo or Bryant.

The starting QB for Dallas is the former Cleveland Brown Brandon Weeden. Last week he went 16 for 26 with 246 yards and a touchdown. This year so far Weeden has played 3 games going 45-59 with 551 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

With or without Romo and Bryant Dallas is still a team with a lot players you got to watch out for. Bill Belichick had this to say about the Cowboys: “They have a really aggressive attitude. They’ve got a lot of clutch players. They’re very good on both sides of the line of scrimmage, a lot of good players, a lot of depth, a lot of size, a lot of power. They do a real good job there, run the ball well, very active defensively, create a lot of negative plays, good in the kicking game with really good kickers.”

One guy the Patriots will have to be all over is defensive lineman Greg Hardy. This will be Hardy’s first game back after serving a four-game suspension. Belichick is ready to take on Hardy saying “He’s a dynamic player. We know him from Carolina. He’s a handful.”

A question everyone has been asking is what’s the difference of preparing to play Weeden instead of Romo. Apparently there really is not much of a difference Belichick had this to say when asked about it “I don’t think they’ve changed their scheme a lot. They’re a game plan team, so they change a little bit from week to week regardless of who the quarterback is. No, it looks like I’d say Weeden has a lot of talent, can make all the throws. I don’t think that’s an issue. Again, they have good skill players at tight end, at running back and at receiver.”

Tom Brady sounds focused and ready to take care of business as we all know Brady is all routine he was asked about if he changes his routine to get used to the new field. Brady had this to say “You try to study what you can on tape and see how the other quarterbacks kind of adjust some of their rhythms and mannerisms. It is a little different for me not playing in a place where I’ve played before. [In] a lot of environments I kind of know what I’m getting myself into. I know where the clocks are. So this will be, you know, it will take a little time, get out there a little earlier and kind of get a feel for things. But I’m excited. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this stadium, so it will be fun to play in it.”

Brady also had a little smack talk said to him by Greg Hardy earlier in the week when Hardy said he hopes Gisele comes to the game. But Brady once again takes the high road and smothered him in kindness saying “I’m just getting ready to play, man. I’ve got to focus on my job. He’s a great player. We’ve got to … It takes a lot of different things to handle a guy like that. But he’s been a great player since he’s been in the league, so we’re going to have to prepare for him and be ready for all different types of moves that he’s got. But they’ve got a good D-line anyway. They count on getting pressure from their front four getting to the quarterback, so I don’t really care about his personal feelings.”

This will be a fun one to watch the Patriots seem ready to go after a long bye week!
